The Longines Heritage Military 1938 collection

Longines recently launched a new collection based on designs from military watches produced in the 1930s. The Longines Military Heritage 1938 collection consists of three watches — the 3 Hand, 24-Hour and Chronograph model — which all have a simple layout with large white Arabic numerals and a minute track that contrasts the matte black dial, and is very easy to read. Moreover, the hour and minute hands, as well as the indices, have been coated with luminous material, for excellent legibility even in low light.

The 3 Hand model comes in a 40 mm stainless steel case, whereas the Chronograph and 24-Hour models come in 42 mm steel cases. They all share the fluted, flat crown, which is a direct reference to the original design. They also share the rhodium plated and satin-finished hour, minute and second hands.

The Heritage Military 1938 collection pieces come with sapphire crystals with double layer anti-reflecitve treatment. Each model is powered by a self-winding ETA caliber beating at 4Hz and with power reserves between 42 to 48 hours depending on the model. All three come on a black synthetic textile strap. Water-resistant is 30 meters. The 3 Hand, 24-Hour and Chronograph models retail for $1625, $2000, and $2525, respectively. (Ref.
