SIHH 2014 – Calibre de Cartier Diver

The Calibre de Cartier Diver is the first dive watch from Cartier. And while this may not be the type of watch that comes to mind, when you think of a Cartier — this is in fact a real dive watch that meets all ISO 6425 dive watch requirements. Meaning, it is water-resistant to at least 330 feet, as well as having a time controller, and comply with the standards for: readability, luminostiy, shock resistance, anti-magnetism and band solidity.

The Calibre de Catier Dive watch comes in a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm by 11 mm. It features a unidirectional 60-minute dive bezel that is steel and has been treated with a scratch resistant black ADLC (Amorphous Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The crown is steel and features Cartier’s signature faceted design, along with the standard faceted synthetic blue spinel, however, unlike the other Calibre de Cartier models in the collection, such as the Calibre de Cartier Chronograph that we recently reviewed, this watch has a gasket sealed locking crown. And as you’d expect, instead of a clear case back, it comes with a solid stainless steel gasket sealed screw-locked case back. Water-resistance is 300 meters.

The dial is black, and has a partially snailed finish. The hours are marked by Roman numerals and indexes. The “XII” marking and triangle at 12 o’clock have Superluminova, as do the twelve square markers, the sword-shaped hour and minute hands and the entire small subsidiary display.

Powering the watch is the same base caliber that powers the entire Calibre de Cartier line, the 1904 MC. It runs at a frequency of 4Hz and has a power reserve of 48-hours. Read more about the movement HERE.
