Hands-On With New Omega Seamaster “Bullhead”

We have already covered three important Omega timepiece launches this year: the Seamaster Aqua Terra 15,000 Gauss, the Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” and the Speedmaster ‘57. But that’s not it, today we are bringing you exclusive images of a fourth new Omega — the Seamaster Bullhead.

The first Omega Seamaster Bullhead was introduced in 1969, and while you can find them on the pre-owned market, they are very hard to come by. And if you do find one, you will likely pay over ten grand. Enter the new Bullhead — with a look that is very similar to the original but with modern improvements.

The Bullhead’s stainless steel case, which measures 43 mm x 45 mm, is almost identical to the original 1969 model. The stacked 2-register dial configuration is basically the same. There are still two crowns, one at 12 o’clock which sets the time (and yes it always locks in the same position) and one at 6 o’clock which controls the internal bezel.

While much is similar, a few things have changed. The pushers are still mounted at the top, of course, as this is part of the “Bullhead” look, but instead of round pushers, they are now flat. And as you might expect, sapphire glass replaces a plastic crystal. Most importantly, though, the new Bullhead is powered by a modern automatic Co-Axial caliber 3113 movement versus the manually wound caliber 930 which powers the vintage model.

There are three variations to choose from: black dial with a square guilloche pattern and a black leather strap with red contrast stitching, white dial with a brown leather strap, silver dial with perlage on a black perforated leather strap with red contrast stitching. The retail price will be $8700.
