At Baselworld 2014, Longines introduced a throwback collection called the Conquest Heritage 1954-2014 — contrary to the majority of heritage timepieces we see today, this is a spitting image of the original, right down to the 35 mm diameter case. Being 2014, it of course has a modern movement, but apart from that, virtually everything else is the same.

Creating a formula for how to reintroduce past vintage models varies from brand to brand, and typically garners polarizing opinions, but in this case, most commentary I have read has been positive. It seems they got the formula right on this model.

The movement inside is a modern automatic ETA 2824/2 which beats at 4Hz, has 25 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. The dial features oversized applied yellow or pink gold markers (depending on the model), like the original, as well as gold dauphine hands. The dial has a sunburst finish and is slightly domed. The glass is a Hesalite plastic crystal, which is another homage to the original. Water-resistant to 30 meters. Paired with a black alligator strap with matching buckle.

The Longines Conquest Heritage 1954-2014 comes in four variations, which are all limited numbered editions: steel with silver dial (Ref. L1.611.4.70.4), rose gold with silver dial (Ref. L1.611.8.70.4), yellow gold with silver dial (Ref. L1.611.6.70.4), and yellow gold with gold-toned dial (Ref. L1.611.6.30.4).
