Introducing the Maître Cabinotier Perpetual Calendar Regulator

Debuting at the Watches & Wonders trade fair in Hong Kong last week, this one-of-a-kind timepiece features a regulator display, including a full perpetual calendar and an exquisitely finished hand-guilloché dial.

If creating the world’s most complicated timepiece was not enough – this new masterpiece leaves no doubt: Vacheron Constantin is amongst the best manufactures in the world at creating complicated one-off timepieces.

Presented in a 42 mm by 11.7 mm fully polished pink gold case, the Maître Cabinotier Perpetual Calendar Regulator houses automatic caliber 2460 RQP which beats at 4Hz, has 334 components, 27 jewels and a 40-hour power reserve.

The regulator-type dial layout means that all seven functions are displayed separately. Hours, minutes, perpetual calendar (date, day of the week, month, leap year), and moon phase each have their own location. The enhanced legibility of this type of dial configuration was historically used to precisely adjust other timepieces as early as the 17th century. These high-precision timekeeping instruments also called “Master Clocks” served as a point of reference in the watchmaking workshops and astronomical observatories.

The gold dial is adorned with an opaline brown finish and a meticulously handcrafted guilloché motif. According to Vacheron Constantin, “The fine guilloché pattern, epitomising the savoir-faire and creativity cultivated by Vacheron Constantin the domain of artistic crafts, calls for finishing work that is up to four times longer to perform and more demanding than on traditional dials.”

The Maître Cabinotier Perpetual Calendar Regulator is paired with a brown alligator leather strap with alligator leather inner shell that is hand-stitched and saddle-finished with a pink gold triple-blade folding clasp with polished half Maltese cross. The caseback is engraved with “Pièce Unique.” It will be delivered to one lucky collector in a presentation box with an integrated watch winder, a corrector pen and a magnifying glass.
