Introducing the Ulysse Nardin Blue Ocean

Within the Marine Diver collection, Ulysse Nardin has introduced a new limited edition dive watch collection called the Blue Ocean. The 45.8 mm diameter case is stainless steel, coated with vulcanized rubber. The entire case, crown, and bezel are coated with this special rubber treatment.

Matching the color scheme of the case, the dial features a wave pattern in blue. Further, the luminous material on indexes, bezel dot and hands is also blue. Even the movement, which is visible through a sapphire caseback, has been blued. And, finally, the rubber strap, is, you guessed it: blue.

Thankfully, the dominantly blue theme is contrasted by the rose gold hour and minute hands, rose gold markings and black applied indexes.

In addition to the large hour and minute hands, the date is displayed through a magnified window at 6 o’clock. The small seconds are displayed within the same subidiary dial at 6. Interestingly, there is a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, which is always nice to have on a mechanical watch.

Powering the Blue Ocean is 28 jewel automatic caliber UN-26 which has a 42-hour power reserve and has been adjusted to chronometer specifications.

This is a dive watch and accordingly the vulcanized rubber bezel is unidirectional with a 60-minute dive scale. There is a screwed crown and water-resistance is 200 meters.

Each piece is limited edition, as indicated by the one of the two black ceramic links from the rubber strap which is engraved with “LIMITED EDITION.” The other ceramic link, on the opposite side of the case, is engraved with the Ulysse Nardin logo. Also, a rose gold plate is rivetted to the left side of the case with the edition number out of 1846 engraved on it. (Ref. 263-99LE-3C)
