Philippe Cousteau’s Rolex Sea-Dweller sells above high estimate


Earlier this week, Philippe Cousteau’s (son of Jacques Cousteau) Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 1665 with Double Red Mark I dial, sold for $183,750. That is more than thirty thousand over the high pre-sale estimate of $150K. In addition to the circa 1967 wristwatch, the winning bidder also received: six 8 x 10 color photos showing P. Cousteau prominently wearing the watch, a book “Diving Companions” by Jacques Cousteau and Philippe Diole, a red “Cousteau Crew” shirt, a 14 x 11” photo of the sailing yacht and a 14 x 11” photo “Philippe Cousteau at Sea.”
