Pre-SIHH 2013: Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hours

At SIHH 2013 Montblanc will launch a new wandering hours (as opposed to jumping hours) chronograph, with a day/night indicator integrated into the hour display. The Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hours shows the hour via Arabic numeral cutouts which spin on a disc and are indicated by a red arrow over top. Below the cut-out is a disc that is half grey colored and half blue; throughout the day and night, the disc rotates at a varying rate using a special twin cam mechanism, to display day or night directly underneath the hour cut-outs.

The day and date are indicated at 9 and 3 o’clock, respectively. The subdials on the lower half of dial indicate the minutes and seconds for the 30-minute mono-pusher chronograph.

The Rising Hours is shown in a rose gold case measuring 43 mm in diameter, like the other Nicolas Rieussec Chronographs. It will also be available in platinum and steel.
