The Breitling Navitimer Blue Sky 60th Anniversary Limited Edition

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic Navitimer, Breitling has introduced a 500-piece limited edition watch with a special Aurora blue dial. The Navitimer, which has been continuously produced since 1952, has long been a favorite among pilots. Its famous circular slide rule bezel allows for fast airborne navigation calculations such as: average speed, distance covered, fuel consumption or rates of ascent and descent.

It is worth noting that vintage Navitimers are very sought after by collector’s and although Breitling chose not to feature any throwback elements in the Blue Sky 60th Anniversary model, which we wish they would have, it is powered by the brand’s impressive caliber B01 in-house, chronometer-certified column wheel chronograph movement. The selfwinding caliber runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz), has 47 jewels and an impressive 70-hour power reserve. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date and chronograph: 1/4th second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers.

The Blue Sky comes in a 43 mm stainless steel case with a bidirectional rotating bezel with circular slide rule and a cambered sapphire crystal that is glareproofed on both sides. The dial is blue with baton hour indices, white printed markings, blue subdials and a date aperture at a 45 degree angle in between 4 and 5 o’clock. The hour markers and hour and minute hands have luminous paint for nightime visibility. The sub dial hands are in steel and the central chronographs seconds hand is in red. Available on a dark blue crocodile leather strap (shown above), or a metal Air Racer bracelet (shown below).
