Tudor introduces a Pelagos designed for Left-Handed Divers

In 2015, Tudor slightly redesigned their professional diver’s watch – the Pelagos – with a new dial that features five lines of text at 6 o’clock instead of two lines like its predecessor.

However, the biggest change was the addition of a new in-house automatic movement, caliber MT 5621, in place of the ETA 2824 which powered the original Pelagos, and which beats at 4Hz, has 26 jewels and boasts a 70-hour power reserve. The movement uses a silicon balance spring and has a variable inertia balance wheel, with a traversing balance bridge which makes the regulator assortment, and it is a COSC-certified movement.

Now, Tudor introduces a left-hand version of the Pelagos diving watch for the first time (the crown is on the left instead of the traditional location on the right side of the case, and is therefore optimized to wear on the right wrist). For the movement, the crown and stem were moved to the left side, and so the new designation is caliber MT5612-LHD.

The Tudor Pelagos LHD was inspired by the brand’s history of dive watches designed specifically for left-handed professional divers. During the 1970s, the French Navy commissioned bespoke models for its left-handed divers.

Apart from the crown being moved to the left side of the caseband for this new so-called “Destro” model (left-hand drive), Tudor’s popular professional diver’s watch has stayed mostly the same, except for a few small but cool details.

What is different from the right-hand version is a new beige colored luminescent material on the hands, indices, and bezel. The dial text, logo, and even the date wheel are also in a matching beige color. Furthermore, the word “PELAGOS” is in red for this special left-hand version, and the date wheel has red numbers for all even numbered days (and black for odd numbered days).

Finally, the steel caseback is individually numbered, which was not done with previous Pelagos models.

Each watch comes with a titanium bracelet and an additional rubber strap. The retail price of the Tudor Pelagos LHD (Ref. 25610TNL) is $4,400. Learn more at Tudor.
