Two limited editions with specific engravings to indicate the celebrity cricketer and longtime connoisseur of the brand.
In a move that bodes well because of its presence in India, Panerai has two small variations in honor of its new ambassador, the celebrity cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The former India skipper, who lead India to World Cup titles in two formats of this match, is a long-time admirer of the newest and both of these small variations – a Luminor GMT 44 MM along with also the Luminor Chrono Flyback- are the first examples of country-specific limited variations produced by Panerai watches. They’ll be available for sale only in India.
The very first of these watches, the Luminor GMT (PAM01056) is encased in a 44 mm stainless steel case. It’s founded on the normal production model that references the iconic case layout of the Luminor model, with its characteristic protective bridge guarding the crown along with a depth-rating of 300 meters. However what’s noteworthy is the colour of the dial – a military green which also appears to be Dhoni’s favourite colour. The institution is legit contemplating Dhoni is a honorary lieutenant colonel at India’s Territorial Army and is a skilled paratrooper.
The green sandwich dial has white lume visible underneath the cut-out numerals and on the palms. The fundamental GMT watch hand goes in precisely the same speed as the local time hour hand, carrying out a complete revolution at 12 hours. The steel caseback comes with an engraving of this cricketer playing one of his trademark hoicks into the boundary, his signature, a summary of this peninsular India map, and the number 183 which marks his greatest score in One-Day International cricket. The GMT model is powered by the fabrication P.9010/GMT Caliber. The self-winding movement has a three-day power reserve thanks to the presence of two mainspring barrels and runs a 4 Hz escapement.
The next version, the Luminor Chrono Flyback (PAM01057) utilizes a 44 mm Goldtech (a golden alloy developed by Panerai) and is based on the normal production version. This includes a similar green dial with a nautical tachymeter scale (pronounced in knots) on the dial fringe. The hands which indicate timing, the ones used on the sub-dials along with the two chronograph moments are also in gold. The gold and green form a striking contrast . This watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal caseback with the very same mark as the steel caseback. However instead of an engraving just like on the steel caseback, it’s laster-etched on the sapphire crystal here. The movement has a traditional column wheel and a vertical clutch construction, the chronograph watch minutes are exhibited by a central hand that jumps forwards after every 60 minutes.
