Watch Review: TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 6 Automatic

The Carrera Calibre 6 Automatic has minimalist look, with a sunray silver dial, presented in a stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter. It has a fixed bezel and the case is fully polished. A relief engraving of the Heuer shield is emblazoned on the crown. The caseback screws-in and is engraved with a vintage red Heuer logo.

A blue flange with white printed track indicates minutes. The inner chapter ring has hand-applied polished faceted indexes, along with a black printed track with 15-second graduations.

At six o’clock is a blue small second counter with a stamped “azurage” finish. A date aperture sits a six, within the small second counter. “CARRERA-CHRONOMETER” is printed on the dial in black at twelve. And right below that is a red printed vintage Heuer logo.

Hour and minute hands, as well as each hour index, feature luminescent paint. The sapphire crystal is curved and has a double anti-reflective treatment.

Inside is what TAG Heuer calls Calibre 6, which is a chronometer-grave Swiss made automatic movement that has been outsourced. It runs at 4Hz, has up to a 44-hour power reserve and rapid date correction. Functions includes hours, minutes, small seconds and date. The movement has received “Côtes de Genève” decoration on the oscillating weight, which is also engraved with “TAG Heuer — Calibre 6 — Swiss Made.” Water-resistance is 100 meters. Comes with a blue perforated calfskin strap and polished steel folding clasp with safety push-buttons. Retail price is $3,400. (Ref. WV5111.FC6350)
